risk management at bb comp and progression

Received an internship offer to join one of the BB (GS/JPM/MS) as a credit risk analyst. I'm interested but base salary is fairly low and not super sure how it scales. Does anyone have any insight on how that might look?

I've heard there are very few levels within the risk team at banks which makes it easier to reach VP but does compensation scale quickly at that point? Worth in long run / what are the likely pivots I could make?
