SA 2021
Is anyone else going through recruiting for SA 2021 literally feeling depressed? This process is absolutely exhausting my mental state. I've been networking/interview prepping since back in January, and the process keeps dragging out and applications seem as if they're going into black holes. It seems as if there aren't even any MM firms left, just one or two BB/EBs left and at this point it seems like there's no hope.

Hey there, take a break. Tirelessly recruiting for an internship is not worth your mental health and will only worsen your ability to find opportunities. I was in the same boat and started networking at about the same time. All you need is one offer. Take a break, see the big picture of your life and career, and restart the recruiting process. You got this!

Definitely! I'm an international student from a non-target (~1 person enters IB per year). Networked and studied technicals a lot since January but only 1 bank got back to me until August. I wouldn't say I gave up on IB, but I felt my efforts were wasted and started looking into Accounting, ER, or CorpFin as a safety. Then, a BB reached out on August for a hirevue, made it to the Superday, and got the offer. Still pretty surreal, but if you're passionate about finance and keep working hard, I truly believe you'll make it! Maybe not the same path as mine, but a great one nonetheless.
