they've got a great reputation in mid-market consumer M&A - well known deals include selling orange glo/oxi clean to church and dwight (household), breathe right to Glaxo (consumer health), and meguiar's to 3M (car care)

I know a guy who worked there. He spoke very highly of his experience and ended up exiting to a decent buyside shop. As mentioned above, it is heavily focused on the consumer segment. If this is for you, it wouldn't be a bad place to work.

Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like IB including boutique IB is not what it was, and is much more risky to join for exit opps purposes unless at a top shop/top group.

I can't comment on your particular questions, but I have a friend that did his analysts years there a while back and he liked it a lot. They are heavily consumer focused, so while you won't pigeonhole yourself as an intern, make sure that is an area of interest to you. Some of the deals we've seen from them have been quite decent, so I imagine deal flow and general activity isn't so bad. I don't really have any additional information to offer up beyond that though.

Office is at the 888 Seventh building, used to run into guys from Sawaya every now and then. One of the founders is an old Arabic dude who seemed pretty laid back (I'm gonna guess he's the Sawaya portion of the namesake) and used to talk about their consumer deals a lot. Like CB said it's exclusively consumer I believe but they get some good flow and tend to sell a lot of brands rather than outright companies. Not sure how hours are, but I imagine they're tough like anything else. Not sure what the culture is like but from the gist of the Sawaya guy I assume it's not too bad.

^ Great helpful responses. I'm a junior trying to get an internship there. I spoke to one person there and it seemed it's very close-knit because of the small number of employees so fit and culture is very important to them. Anyone know what they're looking for in terms of fit? If I do happen to get an interview, the first round is going to be all fit questions.
