Sent an email a month ago, but didn't follow up. Send a follow up reply or a completely new email?

I sent an alumni an email a month ago. No response, and I unfortunately, did not follow up with her. This week, I got an interview for the same company, and I realized it would be valuable to speak with a couple more people before the interview. Would it be better to send her a reply to the first email, or a completely new email detailing the situation?

Would greatly appreciate any help!
