SEO offer - if you could pick any IBD, which one

So my GF got an offer from SEO - essentially you can list your top 3 IBD choices and you are guaranteed to get one of the three. Beyond simply listing GS, JP, MS, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on the overall intern experience, and suggestions for the best groups within each to request (as the program provides surprisingly large amounts of agency in one's placement). She seems infatuated with Lazard for whatever reason - I don't want to straight up say 'you're a woman and a minority, are you an idiot?' - as I don't want to try to influence her simply off of stereotype. I realize I could probably find alot of this info sprawled across the site, but that tends to be more in the form of 'plz help - jp energy v ms industrials' etc.

Thanks

I mean they are advising Kraft on the Cabury acqusition, CCE on their sale to KO, and Prudential on the AIA buyout. Not to mention potential buyout of General Growth by Simon. I think most on the board classify them as an "elite boutique." Bulge bracket refers to the universal banks since they underwrite securities and provide loans, etc.

And how much validity do people put into lazard being an all (white) boys club? She is from India and can't really fall back on discussing just how much of an upgrade Granderson is over Melky offensively, etc

Absolutely Fake Posting.

  1. In SEO, You don't get to rank your your choices (makes no sense, since everyone would pick the same 3 or 4)
  2. You don't get to request groups
  3. You have absolutely no sway in the placement process: unless you interview and get the offer on your own.
  4. All banks receive an initial resume book of the top SEO applicants and then SEO chooses participants in consultation with the banks. Then banks get to select one participant at a time, until all are chosen. I went to college with a chick in HR so im sure of this.
  5. Lazard is not a hostile place to be. Whether she is Indian, Chinese, Black, Hispanic, or whatever, she will not of a problem. In fact, Lazard's Chairman of Investment Banking is black. There are other high ranking Indians at the bank as well, so she will definetly not feel alone.

  6. What was the point of your post? You lied about the above 5 points. Are you just feeling lonely at home and need something to do? Are you trying to race-bait? Do you suffer from mild mental retardation perhaps caused by a recent accident? Do you usually spend your Friday afternoons writing fake forum postings?

Not trying to race-bait - I was asking about the legitimacy of that stereotype. I of course don't have the slightest clue, thus why I was asking.

And damn bluedevils, why the aggression? Obviously as I'm not the recipient of the offer I'm not going to possess a mastery over the exact details - the issue is that she received this offer today, and she also has a different offer that expires today, so I thought it might be wise to elicit the advice of a community that would know far better than I as she keeps asking my opinion on the matter. While I apologize for poorly couching my rhetoric - on rereading it clearly comes across as more a focus on race whereas I intended it as a cultural issue - notice my inclusion of baseball, and particularly on an issue of importance only to Yankees fans. Certain banks have reputations for being more international than others. One of the only potential negatives to SEO is that you aren't interviewing with the banks themselves and you can't get a sense for each Bank's culture, so you can't base your decision on what an important factor.

But no, clearly I'm so lonely and pathetic that I needed to make up a story about SEO and having a gf who had an offer. That must be it..
