Should I add media mentions to my resume
Myself and startup have been mentioned in multiple media sources such as Entrepreneur Magazine, Wamda(tech crunch of the MENA region), Zawya(reuters), etc. I created a section after "Professional Experience" and titled it "Media Mentions" and listed the links to the articles. Would this be the proper way to format it?
Anyone willing to take a look, I'll pm you my resume?
Appreciate the feedback
Just say "Personal start-up 'xxx' featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, Wamda, Reuters, and other leading publications"
Keep it a bit mysterious so they are interested enough to contact you
Thanks for the tip. Where should I mention/ list this? I have listed the startup, my position, and bullet points of accomplishments, etc under the section "Professional Experience". Should I add another bullet point and mention there or?
What positions are you applying for and, in that context, what message are you trying to send to the people who you want to give you a job by listing your media mentions?
Analyst, Equity Research Associate, Consulting positions.
By mentioning the media, I'm trying to get across that although I have not attended a target university I possess the Intellect/ intellectual curiosity beyond the core competencies. I'm entrepreneurial, I have the ability to be innovative and be creative, approach a certain task from a different angle. I have global and relationship building experiences, deeper understanding of cultures and societies and their influences when doing business, ability to effectively communicate and conduct business in a different language. The ability to diplomatically deal with/ execute transactions with complex environments and or people. I'm analytical, professional, aggressive, and have the discipline to be considered a good fit for the role at the firm.
Apologies in advanced for any grammatical errors, writing this while on the road.
I'll just focus on IB analyst, as the other roles are outside my experience.
At an analyst level, IBs will say they want this sort of skill set, when really they want a certain hint of it only. They really want soldiers who can get down in the trenches and work.
If a candidate has too much apparent entrepreneurship etc, we end up wondering "will formatting slide decks at 3am keep this person happy, or will they ditch us for a start up after 6 months?".
Often, the people hired are the intelligent yet somewhat mediocre.
