should I also reply?

Hello, I am undergraduate looking for summer internship.

I got a contact from someone I know, sent him resume, and he is now
sending it around to his friends.

He put me in group mail so that I know what convo is going on between his friends and he.

This really sounds like a silly question, but since I never encountered this situation before, I was wondering if I was supposed to also reply to the conversation they were having or just watch it?

For example, if his friend tells him recruitment process is already over or something along that line, should I reply thank you for looking into it?

My instinct is to just stay quiet but wasn't sure. Thanks! I am asking this because I want to maintain good relationship with the contact and don't want to make any big mistake.

If he introduced you then you should reply, if he didn't and he simply asked the people then don't respond. It really is totally situational and if you want you can PM the convo, it should be clear though as to whether you should respond or not.
