Should I follow up with Hiring Manager after final round interview?

Hi all,

So I had a final round interview for a senior analyst position in corporate development. Its been almost 3 weeks since the interview and I followed up with HR 2x since then. Both times I received a response explaining that they apologize for the delay, and that the corp dev. team/hiring manager have been busy and traveling these last two weeks. Also said to "please bear with us".

If they really wanted to hire me, I feel like they would have made an offer at this point. What do you guys think? Are they just stringing me along while they search for other candidates?

Should I follow up with the hiring manager?

Any insight is really appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like they have a preferred candidate, but she/he hasn't taken the offer yet. You are on waitlist.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.
