Should I mention my upcoming internship in an interview for a 1 year placement program?
The placement and internship do not clash and the internship is before the program.
Yet, both tend to offer graduate roles at the end of their programs, could this discourage a firm in taking me on for a year if they knew I was interning the summer before?
Depends on the reputation of each firm. If you're interviewing for a placement at Wells Fargo and you're telling them you've got an internship at GS lined up, they may think you may decide to renege on them if you get an offer.
Thanks for your reply. The placement role/industry is considerably different. So I think I'll keep quiet.
Congrats. I assume you are uk based. IMO just make sure you have part of the summer free to enjoy it, 2022 summer if possible (some of your friends at uni will be joining graduate programmes in 2023). But yeah its fine to do an internship if they don't clash.
Thank you and yes I am UK based :).
Hopefully there should be 2 weeks or so in between them both if I receive an offer.
The main question was should I mention it in the interview? I haven't got the placement yet.
Na I wouldn't. It doesn't really affect the job you are applying to and I believe it could look a bit cocky mentioning it (probably not but risk surpasses reward).
Is the internship (i assume CB) related to the placement (same firm, CB placement..)?
