Should you network around your desk / greater organization before starting as an SA? I feel like networking on your desk before starting might be awkward, but that could just be me.

I set up zooms/phone calls with most of the people on my desk, even if I didn’t interact with them on a day to day basis. Most happened before I hit the desk but during training. (Analysts, vps, group head before I hit the desk, everyone else after) The phone calls/zooms were with analysts, associates, vps, the group head, directors, mds and the head of all the product groups. Some they set up and others I reached out. Everyone was super happy to talk with me. Hardly ever talked about the group, mainly just talked about life.
