depends on reputation of the bank. some would never renege on the offer and just put you somewhere else in the bank (like what JPM did in 08)

In the same boat as well. I have given notice and I am supposed to start my new role in a week. I am in really good standing with the firm I am leaving so I suppose they would likely let me stay if I asked, but I definitely do not want to be put in that position.

Same... and I phrased my reason as I want to do something different. so it might be tough for me to try to stay if things go wrong. the new firm has not responded to my emails/calls today...I am getting worried
I just checked in with my MD and I’m still a go for my role starting at the beginning of April. This will be a cross country move for me, which adds a little anxiety

I have very recently signed an offer, literally just given my notice to current employer and then was told by the new company today that the start date has been delayed by a month (from April to May)!
Man, this is real chaos! Luckily, I have been able to get my director to like me in the past two years in the current team. So, will continue work with current employer until end of April. Otherwise, it will be a crisis.
I don't have much to add except, continue to be in contact with your firm and future manager. At worst, hopefully just means a little delay in your start date.
I know everyone worked hard for their offer, so hoping for the best for everyone,

For those of us starting structured programs, would you recommend starting to reach out to HR if we haven't received any emails yet?
Is anyone making a move during this whole disaster (I'm moving to a new city)? Just curious how you are handling it. I've already put in my two weeks so no looking back at this point.
I have little over a week before I need to load up my stuff, both the movers and my new firm have said to proceed as planned - so that's my plan. But curious if anyone else had any other experiences thus far.
Same boat here. I'm moving across the country in 3 weeks and have been told numerous times that I'm still a go. I'm hoping things become clearer with this pandemic over that time period
I think at this point, its probably better to move sooner than later before things really start to ramp up (I don't think this thing will slow down until the summer).
I'll post an update, as I move.
Both the city I am in and the city I am moving to are both under "Shelter In Place" orders.
Things are getting interesting.
I'm supposed to be moving to another country in a few months, and both the country I'm in and the country I'm moving to may well forbid entry/exit and impose under restrictions. Sweating like a horse.
Wanted to give everyone an update, original start date is still confirmed. HR has shipped out laptop and on-boarding materials to WFH. Good luck to all.

Update on my current situation - current firm asked me if I wanted to re-consider. So I'm now choosing between staying (highly likely to get axed later on/ or cut in comp) vs sticking with new firm (smaller investment firm, which might post me another delay or rescind the offer completely; I have no visibility).
Any comments/suggestions highly appreciated.

My firm inquired if I would want to delay my start date but since my two weeks is coming and I don't want to go too long without decent healthcare insurance, I said I'd prefer to continue with original start date.
We agreed, its better that I move out there sooner than later. Crossing my fingers that we all can weather this storm.
New firm is going to ship laptop/iphone to me this week, for my May onboarding. I will hold on to the properties; in case the city is still in lock-down, I will use the pre-set laptop to start work.

Are everyone's new offers in mid seniority level positions? How different you think it would be for someone at a more entry level position that would possibly require some light training in the beginning (As far as offers go in this pandemic situation)?
