Singapore monkey trying to secure a Pre-MBA internship

I have just secured an offer from prestigious B-school. I'm in technology field and want to know more about finance and IB. As I'm based in Singapore, I'm trying to find ways to land a pre-MBA internship here.
Any thoughts / suggestions?

I want to get a taste of banking and finance industry before I start my MBA so that I'll have my goals clear. I'm into technology consulting right now with no banking experience, so I would appreciate a chance for consulting internship as well.

Do banks / consulting firms offer pre-MBA internship in Singapore? I'll be attending an Ivy League MBA in the US for 2016 batch (starting August 2014), so I think i have better chance with US based companies. Actually, I wouldn't mind anywhere in Asia / Europe.

I have personally never heard of internships at the pre-MBA level (that you are seeking at) in Singapore, at least not for structured programs.

Frankly without any prior finance experience, you will find it hard pressed to get any internships that would actually matter, be it in consulting or investment banking. As always, you could always try to contact the boutiques for some exposure. A little experience is better than none, although it will most likely not be truly reflective of the respective industry.

I cannot really comment on whether the US would be a better option for banking and consulting exposure from now till you start school, but top schools in the US are top schools anywhere.

Thanks coldburns! As you mentioned, there's no structured program for pre-MBA internship. I'm just trying to utilize my pre-MBA time in a fruitful manner! I want to use this time in hand to my MBA advantage

If your summer plans are still undecided, I'm building an independent pre-MBA program for people in your situation. It's designed specifically to open the door to better/different internship opportunities. PM me for details!
