Sophomore Summer

Asking for some simple advice. Currently Freshman at a semi target and want to secure an internship for sophomore summer in IB/PE. Any insight on how necessary this is to recruit for Junior summer and any advice on how to find/receive an offer for sophomore summer will be appreciated.

Would say not necessary but obviously preferred. Assuming you're non-diversity it's hard to find an internship at a recognizable bank. Otherwise regional banks should be fine I'd guess. At a lower semi-target and most non-diversity folks get offers with non-IB summer internships (small PE shops or F500/recognizable corp fin internships). Tbh if you’re just starting now you’ll have a very hard time getting anything. Sign up for Adventis for their email list w summer 2022 ops because at this point the only places running recruitment will be places that previously filled their cohorts and need more people.

What is the specific timeframe for networking and trying to apply for these internships at PE shops for sophomore summer? Would starting now be necessary or can it be done during sophomore year? Just don’t know if it is necessary to recruit a year ahead like it is for the Junior summer
