Sophomore Summer Decision Help

Hey all,

I've been having trouble making a decision so I thought I'd reach out to the community. I'm a rising sophomore at a target school and I recently accepted a notable IB sophomore internship. Since the offer was exploding with a short decision timeframe I was inclined to accept what I had in hand. However, I now have the opportunity to interview for MBB consulting later this semester and I am unsure as to how to approach this situation. Should I move forward in the MBB interview process, let MBB know about my situation and try to convert the potential MBB offer for the following summer (2024 instead of 2023)? I don't want to renege or burn bridges but I also don't want to pass up on any potential opportunities either. Is being transparent with them the best approach? Does anyone know of MBB being able to postpone a summer internship offer for the following summer?

Any feedback or help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you want to do IBD or consulting for full time?

If you want consulting - just renege on the IB one (don't tell them where you are going). Or if you really don't want to renege, you can try to push to 2024 but I would tell them now before you go through the whole process. I would say decently unlikely they will give you an offer right now for 2024, they'll likely say you can apply next summer or something

If you want IB - MBB will invite a lot of questions on your resume and people will think you want consulting. stick with the IB offer
