Sophomore summer in PWN
So I am a sophomore at a non-target looking for internships. I have had zero luck looking for positions in IB (no surprise), but recently was offered a payed position at a small PWM firm in my town. Should I try to hold out for a more prestigious firm? Am I going to have a hard time spinning this into a position at an IB during my junior summer?
I did PWM my sophomore year, and it helped me get IBD my junior year.
PWM is actually a pretty great opportunity if you're a sophomore... what other prospects or outstanding applications do you have? Prestige is good, but if you don't have a realistic chance of getting anything else, there's no shame in doing PWM. Depending on your group you can actually learn a lot and enjoy your experience.
Thanks, I've heard about UBS unpaid for sophomores... But I know the guys at this office personally so the office vibe will be really cool and relaxed. Plus, $15/hour isn't bad at all.
Dude you're good like wood
I'm in an identical situation except that I go to a non-Ivy target. Got an internship with a financial advisor who started his own firm, he's really chill and it's close to home so I can save most of what I make. As to how helpful this will be for recruiting next year, only time will tell.
