Sophomore Year Plan

Hello,

I am an incoming sophomore at a target school majoring in economics with a 3.9 GPA. I was a premed chemistry major last year and upon doing further career exploration I decided that a career in finance/consulting is what I want to pursue. (I'm not dead set on a particular industry yet)

My question is, what should I be doing in the coming months/year to position myself for a good internship? I am not focused on a particular industry, so is there any specific type of sophomore internship I should pursue to position myself for a junior year IB or MBB internship?

I have no prior finance experience and I have not done any networking yet. I'm new to the business/finance world, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Some specific questions that have crossed my mind are: 1. How much aggressive networking is necessary given my target school and my GPA? 2. Given that I do not have relevant experience, what should I highlight on my resume? (I have had 'normal' jobs before) 3. Given that I am not a finance major, how much finance and accounting knowledge should I have for interviews and internships? (Would it be beneficial to familiarize myself with basic concepts?)

Thanks guys!
