Sophomore Year Summer Internships Advice

I’m a current sophomore in college (semi-target) majoring in both CS and Finance, but I want to go more towards Finance/IB (consulting is on my mind as well, but definitely less so). I have some past internships at small VC/PE search funds, but haven’t gotten any luck with actual IB roles. My current applications for IB roles (at like GS/DB/CS/etc.) have all stalled/waiting on more contact.

Recently, I was offered a software internship for the summer at a BB. This seemed at first like a pretty good way to bring together my CS skills with finance and make the transition easier. But, it also means that I wouldn’t be getting any finance-centric roles for the summer. I wanted to get your guys’ advice. How beneficial would such a role be for pursuing a more finance focused role or IB? Would this instead maybe hurt my chances to get an IB summer internship for my junior summer? How would it compare to maybe other roles for a sophomore?

Does it matter if it is something like tech? I can see where wealth management is close enough and related to IB but I'm worried that maybe it being a more tech-oriented role it could be viewed negatively.
