Spring Abroad Internships in London
Hi everyone – I'll be studying abroad in London during the spring of 2021 (junior spring), and I am hoping to do an internship in banking or something similar. From a target school and pretty interested in tech banking. Do BBs or EBs have any spring internships in London? Or should I be reaching out to other smaller places? Also, for anyone that is familiar with this, what is the timing for me to start reaching out?
"Spring weeks" are for first years in the U.K. There are off-cycle internships but those are generally filled by Masters students with previous IB experience, and typically last up to 6 months.
They have off cycle internships that you can apply to. Just Google "[Bank Name] off-cycle internship."
firms won't hire you for off-cycles if you're on an exchange program and supposed to be studying FT
Some schools have programs where you can spend time abroad interning.
I know people who have done off cycle at BBs through this.
But yeah if it’s full time study then I guess not.
You’ll be on a study abroad visa requiring you to study FT. Firms won’t consider you unless you want to work for free without a proper contract - and then I don’t think anyone in financial services would take such a risk.
