Stock Discussion for Internship Interview
There will be a discussion of stocks at my interview coming up but I have no idea what that entails. I'm going through the company's holdings and learning about those but for an internship position what sorts of questions have you all been asked? I have some ideas I could present but as an undergrad I can't afford the research reports online for in-depth analysis beyond basic metrics.
Anyone know of good sources of information? Maybe recent investor letters (all I've found is Q3 2011)? Google finance/MSN/Yahoo! suck so any other reading material you know of and I'd be grateful.
Thanks
look at most recent 10-ks, 10-qs (look at MD&A), earnings call transcripts. as far as open sources go, i'm not sure why you think google finance or yahoo finance sucks since it gives you all the basic information (and more) that you would need to make an "informed" decision regarding a stock (for interview purposes).
you can also buy cheap equity research reports for like $10 if you need some sort of investment thesis or 'professional' insights. they won't tell you much, but at the very least will point you in the right direction.
Thanks for the tip. I more/less meant Yahoo!/Google don't have detailed analysis beyond metrics...for a activist fund (which it is) I feel like some sort of market thesis is generally necessary combined with an understanding of the firm's capital structure.
