Taking a year off before MBA

I'm currently coming up on finishing 5 years in the US military and have been accepted to a good overseas MBA program in Europe. I am considering taking 6 months to a year off to live abroad in Asia (perhaps teaching English to supplement my savings) before attending graduate school - I personally feel I need time between transitioning from the military to civilian world and I would like to spend more time with my fiance who I met while deployed to Asia last year.

The only thing stopping me from committing to this decision is 1. whether the school will grant me a 1 year deferment and 2. how much/if at all this would affect my job prospects coming out of an MBA program, given my background in the military.

Still weighing the pros and cons of this decision, thank you for any input you have.
