Thank you e-mail mistake: wrong recipient

How bad is it to have sent a thank you note to the wrong recipient, after that recipient has already received the correct one intended for him? The recipient is an MD and one of several in the decision-making process.

Also, how would you take terse "I appreciate your interest" and "thanks for coming in" responses if you receive them very shortly after sending your thank you notes?

Depends on when you sent the email, but either way it isn't a great reflection on your attention to detail. Not much you can do about it now anyway... worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair... it gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere...
