tips for a networking call with alumni

Hey everyone, I will be having my first ever networking call with an IB analyst alum in 2 days and I was wondering what tips you guys had. I'm from a non target state school and don't really know what to expect. Thanks!

Be genuine and show your interest/commitment to whatever field it is. Ask the questions you really want to know, not the ones you think you need to ask. Always ask follow-up questions/“why?” questions to really dig deeper. If you find you’re interested in their work, then make sure at the end to articulate that and ask if they can connect you with more people. Most importantly: remember that these are people, not gods— so talk to them like they’re humans. Be friendly and personable.
