Tips for incoming freshman from Vanderbilt?

Hello everyone! I am a female international student and got admitted into Vanderbilt University on a full ride scholarship + competitive merit scholarship to conduct a project of my interest.

I was just wondering if Vanderbilt is considered a good school in the eyes of recruiters? Did i make the right decision by choosing Vandy? Does anyone have any idea if BB or other investment banks recruit from campus?

I was fortunate enough to have someone help me to obtain an internship in their boutique in CT the summer of my freshman year.

Do you think this internship would help me later in my career journey? is it necessary to have it?

Are there any early insights/diversity pre-internship programs just like the ones offered by GS, JPM, programs I should keep an eye on?

How do you advise I should go about networking with my school's alumni or people in the field?

Thanks for ur help in advance! Any advice/info would be highly appreciated.

Hey, current Vandy student here.

Off the top of my head, I remember attending on-campus recruitment sessions for GS, BofA, and Barclays. I’m sure there were others but they’re escaping me at the moment.

As for the internship offer that you have, I say go for it. The more experience you have, the better. Always try to have something to show for your summer time.

If you have any Vandy-specific questions, feel free to reach out — happy to help.
