if you want to do a startup, it's a no brainer really, especially since comp at the VC is higher.
To be honest, IBD gives you better optionality if plan B is a finance career. VC gives you better optionality for roles in tech. really depends what you want. Ultimately, I think the benefits of being at a VC prior to starting your own company (access to funding, successful entrepreneur, network, etc) far out weight any benefits you might get working in IBD which is why I think this is a no brainer.
