The Canadian banks pay analyst bonuses in December. I believe only the globals pay in the summer. Maybe some smaller local MM banks pay in the summer (just guessing)? However, people leave throughout the year so their is sporadic hiring going on throughout the year to fill empty seats. Given the weak market, and weak buyside opps right now, big 5 banks have barely hired throughout 2023. Therefore, your best bet is to network as much as possible so that when a seat opens up you get invited for a first round interview.
I know RBC and BMO bonuses are paid in summer
Echo poster above, October/November year end (where bonuses get calculated on a prorated basis) paid out December for most banks. Turnover usually happens during that period and new years for most laterals.
