Transfer from Development to Investing/PE in Emerging/Frontier Markets
Hello All:
I hold degrees from top-ten private universities (one in Anthropology and a Master's in Developmental Economics). After a a brief career in the development/humanitarian field I've discovered that it isn't for me. I believe funds would be best placed investing in the organic growth of small/medium sized businesses in emerging/frontier markets than in traditional development agencies.
Thus, it brings me here. I am in my early 30s and want to transition to a career in private equity. I have spoken to a few alums and they suggested that I first start off with two years in investment (a second-tier IB) and then two years in PE.
However, it seems that most do campus recruitment. Thus, any and all advice on this subject would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
