Transfer student seeking internship advice.

Hi all,

I have recently transferred from a CC to GBS at Emory. I am seeking IB or HF internships, but I feel like I have always been a step behind because of my poor HS performance, resulting in my having to go to CC. I previously had one internship as a data analyst at a software company. I am not sure where to put all my energy. I think it may be too late to secure a great internship through the school/ career services, especially since Emory is not a target school. Should I focus my efforts on this, or should I look to put my effort towards family connections and cold calling/emailing and try that way?
