Transition to Finance from a Markets tech team [UK]

Hi all,

My stats:

- Markets Tech Software Dev with 2y and 3m experience straight from a Comp Sci BSc.

- Realised coding is not for me so looking to switch.

- Looking to explore roles in SnT and IB (and PE etc). I did some shadowing during COVID (friends in SnT and IB WFH) and I think it is worth giving a shot.

I have done some research and my question is two-fold so I can get a quick reality check because if I cant break in I can just focus on something else. But I am here to try and give it my best.

Q1. AFAIK, my chance is either apply to a Graduate Scheme / Free-floating Analyst position and hope they don't reject me due to having "too much irrelevant experience" (apart from stuff I picked up on my current job I only have those Virtual Experience programs from The Forage I can put to showcase interest). Is this a total dead-end and I have zero chance because of not being a fresh grad?

Q2. Since I am a very structured person if I imagine SnT and IB as career branches of a tree and I have no relevant experience there is no way I can get an Associate and the only thing before that is grad schemes/filler analyst roles. So if Q1 is "no chance", is my best shot applying for an MBA and trying to get some internship?

Thanks for your help.
