Transitioning from Military Special Operations to IB

Whats up guys...separating from the Navy in a few weeks and starting a Master of Finance at a non-target school.

Basically, curious if anyone in this place is either a veteran that has transitioned successfully from the military special operations community into finance/banking and if they have any tips.

Also, if anyone is aware of BB banks with veteran internship programs, please post them here for me and for others like me who will eventually read this. I am applying to the BofA VAP and the UBS veteran program, but curious if anyone is aware of any others that would be good entry-points in the industry.

My current plan is to retake the GMAT and get over the 700 mark in order to go to a M7 MBA program, but if possible I would rather get straight to work.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The VAPs are specifically for people that are not going to school. That is opposed to something like BX MINT, which is specifically for people who are about to start Bschool. Most BB have some form of vet recruiting. Just google it or reach out to general recruiting, and you should be able to find the point person. I think the edge coming from SOF is that if you know someone also from SOF in banking, that connection is likely to be stronger. Otherwise, you will just get the usual vet relationship, which is pretty helpful too. Mfin to analyst should work just fine as a vet. I wouldn't really worry too much about the MBA for now.
