Based on previous WSO threads, here's a detailed breakdown of your options:

  1. Nomura SF vs. Union Square SF vs. SocGen NY:

    • Nomura SF: Known for its strong presence in tech, which can be beneficial if you're targeting tech-focused PE firms. However, it might not have the same brand recognition as some BBs or EBs.
    • Union Square SF: A boutique firm that might offer more hands-on experience but could lack the prestige and network of larger firms.
    • SocGen NY: Offers a broader exposure to different sectors and has a stronger global brand, which can be advantageous for re-recruiting into BB/EB roles.
  2. Recruiting for GE or Consulting:

    • General Electric (GE): While GE has a strong corporate finance program, it might not provide the same direct path to PE as investment banking.
    • Consulting: Top consulting firms (e.g., MBB) can be a good alternative, especially if you can leverage the network and transition into PE later. However, the path might be less direct compared to investment banking.

Recommendation: - SocGen NY: Given your goal of re-recruiting for BB/EB FT and ultimately making it into UMM/MF PE, SocGen NY might offer the best combination of brand recognition, sector exposure, and networking opportunities. This can enhance your chances of landing a full-time role at a BB/EB, which is a more traditional path to PE.

Additional Considerations: - Networking: Regardless of the firm you choose, actively network with professionals in BB/EB and PE to increase your chances of re-recruiting. - Performance: Excel in your SA role to secure strong recommendations and potentially leverage internal mobility within the firm.

Good luck with your decision!
