US Investment Banking from Australia

Would it be possible to recruit for a BB/EB/MM Summer Analyst role in the United States, coming from a top university and course in Australia (University of Sydney/UNSW/University of Melbourne)+(BCom & BLaw)?
For reference, I am a dual Australian/American citizen, and attended semi-prestigious Private High School in the NYC area (lived in the US for 6 years).
Thanks in advance.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights:

  1. Recruiting for BB/EB/MM Summer Analyst Roles in the US from Australia:

    • Feasibility: It is possible to recruit for these roles, especially if you have a strong academic background from top Australian universities like the University of Sydney, UNSW, or the University of Melbourne.
    • Networking: Leveraging your dual citizenship and previous connections in the US, particularly from your time in NYC, can be advantageous. Networking with alumni and professionals in the industry can help bridge the gap.
    • Recruitment Process: The recruitment process for these roles is highly competitive and often starts early. Being proactive and applying early is crucial.
  2. Considerations:

    • International Experience: Your dual citizenship and experience living in the US can be a significant advantage, making you a more attractive candidate for US-based roles.
    • University Reputation: While Australian universities are well-regarded, the perception of your qualifications may vary. Highlighting any international exposure or relevant experience can help bolster your application.
  3. Additional Tips:

    • Tele/Video Interviews: Given the global nature of the industry, many banks are open to conducting interviews via tele/video conferencing, which can be beneficial if you are not physically in the US during the recruitment process.
    • Targeting Specific Banks: Some banks may have more established pathways for international candidates. Researching and targeting these banks can improve your chances.
