US MM/LMM vs. Australian BB/EB.

Hello Everyone,

(For reference I am an Australian Citizen and a US Permanent Resident. Applying for Dual Citizenship in 2027).

I am a first-year student at a US Non-Target in Los Angeles, and I've been recruiting for IB over the past year in that market. Note that I have lived in the NYC Area for 8 years prior to University in which I attended Private High School.

However, recently, I've been presented with an opportunity to move back to Sydney and attend a GO8 university in Sydney (Aus Target School). Important to note that I have very strong connections for recruiting in Sydney via family.

I'm torn between staying the course in the US and continuing to pursue opportunities in the MM/LMM space or taking a leap and transferring to Sydney to potentially aim for more prestigious roles in BB/EB. My current end goal in both scenarios is to end up somewhere on the US East Coast 5-10 years after University. However, I wouldn't be opposed to staying in APAC (Sydney/Singapore/Hong Kong) if the opportunities led me to something good. Both options have their pros and cons, and I'm finding it challenging to make a decision. I have nailed down to three possibilities/options:

Option 1: Common Road
Stay at US Non Target, go through recruiting in 6 months as planned, aim for MM/LMM in LA/SF/SD, completely base myself in US.

Option 2: Lateral
Transfer to Aus Target in 3 months, go through standard Aus recruiting process, aim for BB/EB, grind out for 2-3 years, attempt to lateral over to NYC. At this point I would hopefully have gotten my US Citizenship, or I will be in the late stages of my Permanent Residency.

Option 3: Unconventional
Transfer to Aus Target in 3 months, recruit for NYC BB/EB from Australia, leveraging NYC Private School connections and more "prestigious" University background. Networking opportunities in this space are decent being that around 50 alumni are AN/AS at BB/EB's in NYC. Same thing here, at this point I would hopefully have gotten my US Citizenship, or I will be in the late stages of my Permanent Residency.

My problem boils down to 3 main questions:

1) Which option would leave me with the best career trajectory?

2) Would it do me best long term to start work at a US MM/LMM, or Aus BB/EB

3) Would recruiting for NYC from Sydney even be possible?

I'd greatly appreciate any insights, experiences, or advice from those who have faced similar decisions or have expertise in either the US or Australian industry.

Thank you in advance for your help!
