Vault Cover Letter

Ok, so I decided to pay... and I know everyone says how no one reads cover letters... but still, I decided to pay for the Vault cover letter service that they have. My cover letters in the past have been okay, I was looking for something to set me apart. but I feel its just mediocre('love of investment banking...' cmon )... wanted to get other ppl's opinion. deff could have thought of a better way to spend 60 bucks.

I am writing to express my interest in the [Name of Position] with [Name of Firm]. Having demonstrated a record of success as an entrepreneur and financial services professional, I would like to leverage my ability to excel under pressure, strong quantitative and analytical skills, and outstanding leadership and teamwork to add value as a contributing member of your team.

I offer the following examples of the skills and competencies that are required to serve as an effective financial professional for your firm:

Excelling in Challenging Environments: I am well aware of the commitment involved in an investment banking career; rather than being deterred, I welcome the challenge. My ability to excel under pressure started early – as a Junior Olympic athlete in wrestling, I learned the value of hard work, focus, and dedication at a very young age. I later received my undergraduate degree in finance while running a multi-million dollar wholesaling firm. I excelled in this environment, graduating with a 3.6 GPA and increasing my firm’s revenues by 40%.

Quantitative and Analytical Skills: My quantitative and analytical abilities have been evident throughout my academic and professional careers. I exhibited outstanding academic performance as finance major and put my classroom knowledge to immediate, practical use at my wholesaling business. I designed financial models to improve our accounting, bookkeeping and logistics; I also brokered and executed a unique multi-party deal to acquire a group of gas stations. To further improve my finance skills, I recently completed an intense four-week training seminar focusing on financial modeling tailored to the investment banking field.

Leadership and Teamwork: Throughout my life, my colleagues and teammates have looked to me for leadership. I was voted captain of my Junior Olympic wrestling team and led us to a third place finish at the national championships. I managed a team of high-performing employees at my wholesaling firm and helped them work together to achieve our outstanding results. I will bring this team-oriented mindset to my role in banking.

My authentic love of investment banking makes a career at [Company Name] a perfect fit for both of us. My résumé is enclosed for your review and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you.

wow sorry to hear... :( I was considering the service as well but I decided to save my $100. I don't like the bullets. I think it flows better in regular paragraph form.

To be honest - seems a bit long. Mine was 3 short paragraphs, and by short I mean 4-5 sentences max. First paragraph was about me/what I"m studying, and stating that I wanted a banking internship.

2nd paragraph was about my past work experience, and how the skillset was relevant to banking, and more importantly, what I learned from my current work experience.

3rd why that particular bank - made this unique to each bank, talking about who I was speaking with there, and what about this bank stood out to me.

sounds pretty generic - but worked. most people will tell you that nobody reads cover letters, but your right in that it can't hurt to have a strong one.

put some effort into it, but really polish your resume
