Wait time to hear back between interviews

Just had my first round interview today for a lateral IB role. This process has been pretty fast moving so far (1 week from resume drop to interview stage) and I’m wondering when I can expect to hear back about next steps. Should I give it the weekend and follow up with HR on Monday?

So I sent both thank you notes in the afternoon yesterday shortly after the interviews (there were 2 of them). Upon ending the second one, the interviewer said they really enjoyed our conversation and was sure we’d be in touch about next steps soon.

I'm sure your interview went well, but I feel like that's kind of boilerplate language to say, "We'll be in touch.". I've heard that from nearly all final interviewers, as they likely know they are the last one that you are talking to.

Additional advice (though anecdotal): Customize your thank you emails for each interviewer. Also, this is your final shot at selling anyone who's on the fence about you. My sister's bank (non-IB) had two really good candidates for a role, and it literally went down to their thank you emails.

If I were you, I would still reach out to the HR person to confirm how the interviews went, and I would also mention something about learning what the next steps are/their decision.
