Wash U Olin vs Michigan LSA

Currently a sophomore at WashU's Olin business school, majoring in finance and computer science with a minor in math. I'm not happy here whatsoever, and Michigan is a much better social fit for me. I was just admitted into their arts and sciences school for next semester and considering the move. I would major in financial math and minor in CS or business if possible. Grades, involvement, and family connections are strong. Any thoughts on how my career outlook would change going from Olin to UMich?

I'm not a UMich alum, but I'd advise you to go there if you're that unhappy at Olin. While the academics are great, I've come across virtually none in banking in NYC. UMich alums are everywhere, and it's a fantastic school - I'm sure you don't have to be in Ross to take into account all the networking you can do simply from going to the same school. With that said, I can't give you direct advice on Ross vs. LSA, but from what I've seen at every other school that has an undergrad business program is that the kids in the Arts & College school had no difficulty breaking in at all, and just had to come up with a unique story for why they didn't want to study business.

Thanks for the advice. I've definitely heard similar things about WashU previously. I spoke with an LSA alum today, and he mentioned that the separation between schools was quite distinct, i.e. on-campus recruiting, resume drops, and information sessions were limited specifically to Ross students.

LSA because you're not happy in St Louis and the two options are close enough to be a toss up.
