Western European Big4 To London IB - When To Network?

Hello everyone.
I'm a recent graduate from a Western European school with a bad GPA. I've worked for one of the BIG4 firms for several months.

Before I move to my Grad school, I will have worked for a year at the BIG4. Unfortunately, without the possibility of gaining any modeling exp, so that's something I'm going to take care of on my own (books/courses available online). I want to land a job in London. I'm far from hopeful about getting an offer from BBs or EBs, and I'll be more than happy to break into a MM IB in London.

The question is: when should I start networking, given my low undergrad GPA?

You can however come back to the Netherlands and try to get into some BB and big financial firm that I know are expanding there...
from what I know and from sporadic experiences I had in the country I think future in the Netherlands can be very positive and, more importantly, after having entered in a good spot there you can try to move to London within the same firm also beacuse it is easier to find a good post in the Netherlands being dutch than find a spot in London without a degree in UK

Best strat to London from Rotterdam will be to get high grades and apply to the FSR/FSA (financial student associations of Amsterdam and Rotterdam) Banking Cycle.

Competition is insane though and it's all about grades, think 8.0/10 gpa as an absolute bare minimum. Having worked for Big4 at that stage will be in your advantage though, as it is common in the Netherlands to get into your masters directly out of your bachelor's program (although less and less).

Good luck and have fun, Finance & Investments is an awesome program.

The move is not too unlikely, especially since RSM is viewed favorably in London IBs. I would try and find alums from your programme in London and just message them on LinkedIn. Some may get back to you and let you know what your chances are. Brexit might be a factor over the next couple of months though and recruitment may slow down.

I know two people that went to the same RSM programme straight after undergrad in Eastern Europe a few years ago and then joined MM ECM and BB Corporate Banking (the latter then moved to MM IB) in London. And they both landed offers while still studying in NL.

Also, I think quite a few IB roles in the Netherlands don't require Dutch, although it's a very small market compared to London.
