What do I do for a freshman internship

I am a freshman at a non-target university. I have applied to tons of internships but have got nothing but rejections as they always choose another candidate. If I had to guess, someone who is ahead of me in school. I have no idea what to do now that summer is approaching and I might not land anything. I am near Chicago in the summer if that helps at all with any advice. Thanks.

I mean.. you could try getting in contact with one of the "mds" at Castle Placement and see if they will take you on as an intern, it is an NYC capital raising boutique that does not pay their interns (which is super uncommon). Virtual internship iirc. Financially it would be a pretty silly way to spend your summer but I think it looks pretty ok (I think? could be wrong) on resumes

Ill check it out, im just at the point where anything is better than nothing

Just to be clear, unpaid internships are literally unheard of in this industry so it gives Castle Placement a bad rep. However, you can spend your summer assisting bankers on debt/equity raises and get interesting experience you can talk about in interviews. Best bet to get it is to find past/current interns at Castle or perhaps one of the MDs on LinkedIn and start from there.
