What options do I have in regards to interning at an IB

Hi guys,

I'm currently a second year Computer Science undergraduate at a non-target, low ranking university. My course is 4 years, including an industrial placement year (now), in which I should be aiming to gain experience through a single 12 month internship, or multiple internships. After which, I will return for my final year of university. I want to pursue an IB career, particularly M&A. I do not have any relevant experience, and have not completed an internship. I performed incredibly poorly during my second year at university, achieving an average grade of 61%, which I believe is a 3.0 GPA in the US system. I am hoping to pursue a MiM at a target school after completing my undergraduate degree.

In my current position, what should I be doing to gain IB experience? I am going to email boutiques regarding an internship, however it's relatively late in the year to be inquiring about internships. The majority of application roles have passed their deadline. I'm planning on taking the GMAT in January and will hopefully score high, and will be able to leverage that score during my summer internship applications. I have 15 months until I return to university for my final year, which I believe is ample time to turn things around. I just don't know how to turn things around as of yet, and would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance.

Sorry that my first post here is of me asking for advice, I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.
