What questions can I ask in interviews to figure out est. work hours / lifestyle?
I'm recruiting for Corp Dev positions and I would like to be able to plan things other than work on weeknights.
In interviews / post-offer, how can I ask what type of hours people work without coming off as less committed / not serious?
Best to save that for after you get the offer.
During the interviews, you only want to ask questions that showcase your interest in the role (eg type of work, clients, processes, etc). Asking about hours during the interview process will probably make you look non-committal. After you have the offer, you can realistically ask all sorts of questions and people will tend to be more honest then since they see you as a member of the team (or close).
The way I phrased it was "walk me through your day, starting with when you come in". That'll normally prompt em to provide a time line. If its a deal oriented role, ask what a day is like under normal circumstances vs when a deal heats up. Worked in my interviews
