What to do towards the end of your IB stint?

I've taken a buyside offer, and the job starts this summer, so I'm currently twiddling my thumbs in IB because my staffer won't put me on any real deals. Pretty much just helping on pitches and closing out the last real deals.

Is there anything else I should be doing to better myself personally? Already started going back to the gym / eating better, but is there anything I should be doing to prep for the next job, or things I can do to just make myself a better person?

Read more books. Doesn't have to be finance books, could be anything. I personally like architecture/design books as it's something completely different but still relevant to living a thoughtful life. Plus, reading is one of the quickest ways to expand your vocabulary. Books I recommend:

  • Flaneur magazines (not books but are incredible magazines that deep dive into cities)
  • High-Hanging Fruit
  • Unwinding Anxiety
  • Discussion Materials (classic)
  • elements of architecture (nice coffee table book)
  • Four Thousand Weeks (if you only read this you'd be fine)
  • Move! (by Caroline Williams)
  • Exercised (by Daniel Lieberman)
  • King Leopolds Ghost

Also, just did the Porsche 911 Lego set and that was fun
