What to do with a free year?

...well not really a free year.

Im working in audit with one of the big 4 at the moment. Doing final exams this year and all going well should pass and then I'll have another year at the big 4 with no exams.

Now my questions is what could I do for that year that would help the cv/look good to employers seeing as I'll have a bit more time.

I despise every second of audit work so want to do something else....ideally IBD (long shot) but Id also like advisory within big 4.

I plan to learn a language but is there anything else I could dedicate myself to for a year that would be worthwhile? I was thinking start CFA's but they seem more focused on trading/portfolio management.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

If you are in audit, hate it, and you wish to move onto something else eventually, I think the best use of your time over the next year would be networking. Of course, learning a language on the side is always worthwhile but probably of secondary importance.

If you have a year off I would either network, travel or do an internship with a bank or something. Maybe you can convert that internship into an offer and ditch the audit job.

Thanks guys.....some solid advice.

Dont think I explained myself quite as wellas I could've though.

I dont have a year off from work...just a year off from exams. Basically Ill get my final exams in second year and in third year Ill have no exams.

So was just wondering if there was anything worthwhile I could do in the evening since I would no longer have lectures.
