What was recruitment like in 2008/09?
I've been reading up on the 2008 crash and the immediate aftermath. It made me wonder what was it like for recent grads looking for their first banking & finance roles in 2008/09. Was it ultra-competitive due to less new hires or were the lower analyst ranks not affected so much?
Talked to several VP/Ds about this. They all said it really sucked and they weren't able to get a super great role right out of college. Eventually everybody who stuck it out ended up fine.
