Advice: don't fuck up the protein and you'll always have respect

Started at a HF as an intern 5-6 years ago. I wasn't licensed to trade, so I was handling IR work. Part of my tasks was to document 130 emails into a tracker and email all 130 with updates on fund/ask to set up meeting for pitch. As you can imagine, reading 130 email chains you had no part of is difficult to get the context of/track. Especially when people are introing other people and the emails have no to/from section.  Long story short, I sent one of the emails to a Timothy instead of a Lyndsey. Don't ask me how. The kicker was that Lyndsey actually used they/them pronouns and her dead name was Thomas. Didn't say her dead name but damn if it wasn't close enough. Got a call from my boss about 15 seconds after the email was sent yelling at the top of his lungs to apologize profusely. Didn't get fired over it but learned that you can never go wrong always being the guy who gets the basics right. Spelling on names, dates, numbers, formatting: the easy stuff. Be that guy who never has typos or wrong basics. Once you really take on that responsibility of going the extra mile, you'll notice how badly people who don't stick out. Don't fuck up the protein and you'll learn the seasoning later.
