What's wrong here
What is the problem when the interview goes well, you're laughing with one another, you get all the technicals/behav q's right, you send the thank you letter, they respond back nicely, and then you don't get the position? What is normally the issue here?
resume not as strong as everyone elses? as much as people say the interview is all that matters the resume is quite important even beyond the interview
Two things come to mind:
1) Sometimes the interviewer can think you are a great person, but it may not be entirely his decision. 2) You may be in the final two or three people for consideration but someone may be a better fit, doesn't mean you're not an incredible asset to another firm.
Don't take it personally and be persistent.
The interviewer probably had similar interviews with everyone else. Some interviewers are just more engaging than others. As stated above, you probably passed the sniff test, and then your resume didn't hold up.

If someone says that they "hope to see me again soon." that isn't necessarily a good sign. It just means she liked me, but someone else could not like me, and then I don't get the positin right?
sometimes the cards just don't fall the way you want them to. nothing you can do about it but just ante up and play the next hand.
^^what do you mean. i think it's a good sign if somene says that they hope to see me again. how much more obvious can it be that they are pushing for my acceptance into the program
You haven't given us any details regarding the ranking of this person or whether it was a superday interview or just a first round. I have had similar experiences and in the end on interviewer loving you doesn't guarantee an offer for you, it just increases your chances.
