When bank said you are been offered a Summer Analyst position at their Investment Banking Division, is it ECM, DCM, M&A?
May I ask how does this work? The offer email only stated the investment banking division without mentioning whether it will be ECM, DCM, M&A, or LevFin. Any kind soul can share little insights? Many thanks.
Many banks give you a generalist offer, then have a separate placing day a few months before your internship starts. This is especially true of the bulge bracket banks. You keep networking leading up to this placing day, then you oftentimes will rank the groups you’re interested in and they’ll rank the interns they’re interested in, and it’s a matching process.
So the placement happens before the internship starts? Does it mean that you could ended up in DCM even if you are interested in M&A or ECM?
