Where can you realistically go with 1 year of IB experience?
I'm at a shitty bank and I don't want to stay here. I also don't really want to do banking for another year.
Total full time experience is ~ 2 years. Would I be competitive for corp dev associate/manager positions, or some other kind of roles?
I feel like the exit opportunity is just not really there. Tbh, don't care about PE at all.
Corp dev would love to have you. I'd apply to every senior analyst or associate job you see, for manager they will want you to do 2 full years in banking.
Corp strategy, finance analyst/associate at an interesting startup are all common exits. Start looking and applying, keep your search broad, once you do a few interviews you'll have a better idea of what direction you want to do.
Do you know how much of a hit you take when switching over to corp dev/strategy in terms of compensation? Is it more like 15-20% or more like 30-40%?
Interested as well. And what if the banks pay you shit? Do you just suck some lower-paying job with not-that-great hours like corp dev?
