Where do you find your contacts?

Hey guys,

I've been trying to network on LinkedIn and found a couple of Alumni who work in BB and Boutique banks. I've contacted them through the "InMail" service offered by LinkedIn (signed up for a free 1-month trial that allows you to send a maximum of 10 messages at a time). The problem is that I would like to scale things up a bit... I maybe get a response 10% of the time so waiting a week before I can send another "InMail" is quite annoying. I'd really like it if I could somehow get these peoples e-mail addresses but don't know where to start. Where do you guys usually get your repertoire of e-mail addresses? And what about contacting HR? Is this a sound move only for MM and regional boutiques or is contacting HR any good for BB and prestige boutiques as well?

I typically use LinkedIn to find people, then see if I can find an email on the company website. If you have access to, or know a friend that has access to Capital IQ the 'person screen' is extremely helpful. Or just try google-ing key words, i.e. "managing director" "ohio state" as an example. hope that was helpful. or just suck it up and pay for full access on linkedin

The higher subscription plan is $100 a month and only allows 25 mails sent at a time... not worth it IMO. Sucks 'cause I can see the people's first name but only the first letter of their last name so I can't even take advantage of the e-mail format thread to reach them by e-mail.

Hlcar-

One trick that I've found to get people's last's name is to simply just google thier first name and last initial and then some of their relevant information.

For instance- google: John D. Harvard University, Goldman Sachs.

Often times I'm able to then see their linkedin Public Profile, which then shows off their full name, even though when signed in into my account, I can't. Good luck.
