From one Bud Fox to another... I used my school e-mail because it seemed more official (plus it's one more way for contacts to remember who you are). I feel like it doesn't really matter but you certainly can't go wrong using your school e-mail, so if you are concerned about the whole Spam thing why not just use your school e-mail address?
I always use school, it takes away the stranger aspect to an extent.

Honestly it doesn't matter that much - I can say from at least 3 BBs people have used either in their resume/cover letter/etc.

I'm always suspect of an email from someone I don’t know making whatever claim. I assume if free webmail is the only account they have, they are trying to scam me. At least if I see a school domain, I know that part is (probably) legit. If I know the person, that is a different issue and would have no problem with a webmail contact.
i would just go with the school email because like someone said, it gives some sort of official-ness to it.
of course if you do know the person, i think gmail would be fine
Out of all the undergrad resumes I've seen, almost all of them list their school email address. It's much easier to track and remember. Also, to me, it shows a little bit of school pride (not that some people don't already have too much of that...).

I am finishing up my resume to send out. Anyway, I was wondering if I should use my .edu email address or my personal email address. My personal is just ([email protected]) so it's generic, while my school email has a two digit number in it.
Also, are there any advantages/disadvantages to either?
Not sure if you're done school but I would use your personal should you ever lose access to the school one.

I use my school address as it'll still be good for another 1-2 years, which is sufficient for the current recruiting timeline I'm about to enter. Some schools get rid of former students' emails after X months, while some maintain them in perpetuity so long as the individual logs into it every so often or just as a normal address would last forever.
My school gives its students multiple email addresses that go to the same email account. One version lasts forever; the others do not and expire seven months after graduation. I use one of the versions that go away after graduation but it "sounds" the best to me as a [email protected] type of format.
Using the personal email is technically safer given school email may not last forever (your school may have something written about this online), but I use my .edu as it just seems more official and will still be available for a reasonable amount of time.

It does not matter. I really dislike emails like [email protected], but at the same time, I understand that schools have these types of email addresses. My school actually cut off part of my name (e.g. [email protected]). If you want, use a Gmail or Outlook address and make it something like [email protected] or [email protected].
It really does not matter. If a bank wants to make you an offer, but decides not to based off of your email address, you probably do not want to work at the bank anyway. Just make sure your email is not something like [email protected].

Hey guys starting to reach out to alums and people at banks. I was thinking a .edu would have some more credibility but do people have a better response rate with them?
Interested to see what other people's experiences have been with cold emailing.
YOu'll see a higher hit rate with .edu vs. gmail. People are willing to give "kids" a chance.

Yes, I would recommend having your .edu email on your resume to keep things consistent. And besides an edu email looks far more professional. Your gmail email address is probably full of unnecessary numbers, dots, underscores, etc. Your edu email is probably really clean, like: [email protected]. It just looks better.
Well unfortunately my .edu is the first five letters of my last name followed by a three digit number.

Which interface you prefer. No one actually cares. I used to frown on Hotmail thinking it wasn't professional but it truly makes no difference which host you use.
Use your school's email if it is a target school. When it flips by the email system they may glean the name. So if they see .yale.edu or whatever, you got a higher chance at them picking it up and reading your quick pitch.
If you're at a no-name university it is smarter to use [email protected].
Facebook, hotmail are both no's.
What is wrong with Hotmail? Others have also said to avoid Yahoo.
