Which to choose, MM bank FI or Oliver Wyman FS (both not US)

Hi I was wondering if I can get some advice on which to choose, a MM bank fi or OW fs. The MM is one of the best in the category and oliver wyman is probably going to be fs (i would prefer the corporate finance and advisory specifically). To give some context, I initially was aiming for investment banking, was close to getting an elite boutique but failed. I am also interested in sales and trading but to be honest, the mm bank put me into the s&t application process when I was actually trying to apply to its IB (probably because I have a pretty good AM internship background and a lot of bbs did the same). OW seems interesting but I also want to emphasize that it is not for the US office and there are not many projects going on.

Care to mention which region this is for if not the US? Europe, Asia?

They are fairly different opportunities. It’s really more about what is more inherently interesting to you, and where you want to be (re: do you have an idea of where you want to be a few years from now - exit opps - and which one of the two of these options are more relevant).

Speaking very generally, consulting keeps a lot of doors open given the broad skill sets you develop (how to understand an industry and company, how to assess and size a market, exposure to executives and firm strategies, etc). If you’re indifferent to both opportunities (the underlying roles), or want to look at IB in the future, I’ve seen more moves from consulting to IB than I do S&T to IB. Also, OW is a very strong global name. I don’t know about other regions, but I’ve heard great things about the culture for their Americas offices.

Thanks for the comment. Your insight actually really helps.

Both are for Asia and the MM bank is also based in the US. Also they do not have much reputation in the specific region. OW does have an amazing culture, but has not built any reputation in the specific country where I will be located (it does have some projects, mostly small ones and none that are huge like the US offices). I guess it can be said that there are bigger opportunities outside my country, given the global human capital business model (I forgot what it's actually called) as long as it stays in the region. On the other hand the MM bank has at least a good operation going on in the country and apparently it is recently growing faster. Its actually the largest in the MM bank category (I just did not want to write the name down to avoid being identified).

In terms of exit opps, yes I was thinking of some that are related to M&A or alternative investments but ever since I failed the elite boutique, what I had in mind started to feel far from my reach. I've also started to wonder whether aiming for an MBA will be helpful but I've been getting conflicting information on its usefulness. In case it is a good option, which career do you think will make it easier to get into a business school in the US?
