Which Way to Connect with Alumni

Hey everyone,

So I went to a private high school, and I just found out there is an app that connects alumni. Through this app, I found many alumni who work in different areas of finance. There is a direct messaging system in which I can send a message through the app directly to their email, but the email comes from the high school alumni address, not my own, which I feel they may not look at. Do you think it would be better to connect with them on LinkedIn and message through there or go through the alumni network?
